WSEPAC Membership
General membership is open to any resident of Waltham or person affiliated with the Waltham Public Schools who has attended at least one meeting of
the Waltham Special Education Parent Advisory Council during the past 12 months. Voting membership is required to vote in the annual meeting when officer elections are held, and other business that comes before any WSEPAC meeting. Subcommittees are established to encourage members to address specific concerns identified as priorities.
Subcommittees shall be created by the Co-Chairs as needed and may be either an ad-hoc committee or, if needed, a standing committee. Each subcommittee will report back to the Co-Chairs at the business meetings of the WSEPAC or by mail, email or telephone depending on the timeliness of the communication. Committees can include, but are not limited to, fundraising, public relations, and outreach.
Chair: Amy DiMatteo; Members: Rose Martin, Stacey Tempesta
The subcommittee will plan out the schedule of monthly speakers for the upcoming year based on topics requested via online surveys, member input, and education trends.
Chair: Donna Donovan
The WSEPAC is a motivated group and ready to serve but we need assistance in reaching other members of our community. The success of our group depends on participation of people who represent the many diverse polulations living in the district. Contribute by getting involved in this subcommittee or by sharing any resources that would help our outreach efforts.
Co-Chairs: Rose Martin and Stacey Tempesta
All proceeds from our fundraising activities go towards filling requests from our Educator Wishlist Program, presented to classroom teachers at the Annual Meeting held in the spring. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer for this group.
Chair: Susan Sutherland
Some of our children have unique needs that require specific supports and services. The Specific Needs Subcommittee was formed to address these needs in more depth by holding informal meetings and events throughout the year. Members may also contact an At Large Member to discuss matters or may post discussion items for topics not typically covered in the academic setting by joining our WSEPAC yahoo or Facebook page to network with others and share resources and best practices.
Co-Chairs: Amy DiMatteo and Marina Lanni-Cucchi
This event is held annually in May. Families, educators and members from the community are invited to gather together and learn more about the WSEPAC and to recognize those who have demonstrated exemplary service and dedication in their effort to include children with special needs in the school and community settings. The First Annual WESPAC Annual Year End Reception was held in 2009, and the Waltham PDD program was recognized on their 10 year anniversary of providing education services to students in the Waltham School District and presented with the First Annual Kelly Beaumont Mazzarini Award. This is also the meeting where elections are held when terms end.
